Cypress, Orange County
Cypress incorporated in 1956 under the name Dairy City, part of an effort by local dairy farmers to keep housing tracts at bay, and adopted its current name a year later. The dairies eventually sold out. Los Alamitos Race Course, which sits inside the city limits despite its name, has hosted quarter horse racing since 1951.
